While there are centers engaged in interfaith dialogue between different faiths, they seldom undertake the mitigation and mediation of inter-Islamic conflicts and conflicts with other communities within or outside the Muslim world. Most Islamic institutions shy away from tackling the dangerous ongoing geopolitical and theological issues and “Schism” between Sunnis and Shiites or the ongoing sectarian conflicts between Sunnis-Shiites and marginalization of important offshoots such as the Ismaili and Ahmadi communities of Muslims.

In dealing with ongoing conflicts raging from Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Libya, and Iraq to Somalia, Sudan, Chad, Mali, and Niger, not to mention the ongoing factional struggles among Palestinians, the Islamic Peace Institute will not abdicate its mission in favor of international, American, or Western-funded institutions with focus on “terrorism”.  Moreover, unlike Muslim organizations that do not have mitigation and mediation of conflicts as their core mission, Islamic Peace Institute will involve its members and representatives in down-to-earth local issues of disputes within communities. More recently, the ongoing war on Gaza and the armed resistance in the West Bank.

We see the failure of outside “experts and mediators” even those appointed by the UN to accomplish genuine resolution of community conflicts arising out of the Gulf War, the invasion of Iraq, the war and conflict in Syria, and the conflicts in Yemen and Libya, not to mention the struggle between Hamas and Fatah, the disputes over the Sahara and Darfur.

Not only do we want to promote a Culture of Peace among nations but also among communities and peoples so they can have a powerful voice and take steps to mitigate conflicts, cultural, ethnic, racial, and religious conflicts in African. Critical cultural and political issues of immigrant, and Muslim communities of England, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Netherland, India, Myanmar. The recent shift of country politics in Europe and the US, the rise of “White, Ethno-and Religious Nationalism is a “wakeup call” for the worst thing to come.
